Job Summary:
We are a solution sales-oriented software product company specializing in land and mineral rights management for the natural resources sector. We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team.

The primary focus of this "find & close" role will be to drive new license sales and expand our market presence within the corporate (B2B) segment, specifically targeting mining, energy, and other natural resources companies across the Americas. The role will also involve identifying and pursuing Government (B2G) opportunities related to resource rights and public lands.

Post-sale, solution delivery and customer sustainment are handled by our dedicated Solution Delivery and Account Management teams, allowing the Business Development Manager to focus entirely on net-new revenue generation.

This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer - Americas and will largely focus on opportunities within our Americas Region (North, Central, and South America). The role may also support global teams and initiatives.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Remote / Office)
Travel Required: 20 - 30% Domestic and International

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for the Americas, with a primary focus on penetrating new B2B accounts within the mining, energy, and natural resources sectors.
  • Identify and qualify high-potential B2G opportunities with government bodies responsible for resource rights and public lands management.
  • Collaborate with Product and Marketing teams to refine target customer profiles, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies.

Sales Execution and Relationship Management:
  • Proactively generate leads and build a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities through cold calling, networking, industry events, and strategic partnerships.
  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, pain points, and the competitive landscape.
  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle, from initial contact and qualification through product demonstrations, proposal generation, negotiation, and closing.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate the handover to Solution Delivery team and Account Management.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.

Market Intelligence and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities and customer interactions in the CRM system.
  • Provide regular forecasting, pipeline reports, and business development updates to senior management.
  • Attend industry conferences and events to represent the company and expand professional networks.

Qualifications:

Required Experience and Skills:
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful B2B software solution sales or business development experience, preferably in the mining technology, land or resource management, geoscience, or complex enterprise software domain.
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of the land and mineral rights management sector, including common business challenges for mining, energy, and government organizations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel (20-40%) across the Americas, occasionally in support of global teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience selling to Government/B2G accounts.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a significant asset for covering Central and South American markets. Fluency in French is a bonus.
  • Experience with CRMs such as Pipedrive or other standard platforms.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree, Graduate Diploma or equivalent in Business, Geo or Earth Sciences, Computer Science or a related field.

Compensation Package:
The compensation package is a competitive salary plus commission structure designed to reward high performance in new sales acquisition. On-Target Earnings (OTE): $100,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience.
